In September of 2013 I will be starting a prison chaplaincy internship. As part of my internship, I will be completing a weekly journal about the challenges, successes, and questions that arise from my work with the inmates.
This blog will not focus on the many stories that I hear each day, that is all confidential information, but rather on the general themes and experiences that I have. As a volunteer for the past twenty months I have experienced the prison from one only direction, and so I am looking forward to gaining a broader perspective of the spiritual life of a correctional facility.
This internship will be spread over two terms. The first term will have a steep learning curve as I learn all of the ins and outs of not only chaplaincy but paperwork, rules, and dozens of small details that will make up my days. I will also be working on developing a SoulCollage® program that I can implement during my second term. My hope is that by developing and running the SoulCollage® program, I will have excellent data to use for my masters thesis.
I hope you will join me for this journey. Feel free to respond to posts and ask me questions along the way!
Warmest Summer Blessings,
Holly
